Abstract: The most prevalent type of dementia is Alzheimer's disease (AD), which damages the CNS by forming beta-amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). By the time AD is clinically diagnosed, neuronal death has already occurred in numerous brain and retinal locations. There is now no effective treatment for AD, which is an incredibly complex neurological condition that is spreading quickly around the globe. The search for a treatment for AD has recently been the focus of several initiatives. One of the most prominent indications of Alzheimer's disease is the activation of microglia, which are seen near amyloid plaques and NFTs. Research on human genetics reveals that microglia are important in the aetiology of AD.
