Abstract: Cognitive radio has emerged as promising new technology in the field of wireless communication for the efficient utilization of the spectrum resources. A cognitive radio sensor network (CRSN) is a wireless sensor network that is equipped with cognitive radio capability. Clustering is a grouping technique that can be applied to wireless sensor networks. Therefore, with the aim of increasing network lifetime, energy efficiency and network stability this project implements a energy efficient clustering based on cooperative spectrum sensing (ECS) for CRSNs. The ECS scheme uses the concept of pairing among sensor nodes and shifts between Sleep and Awake modes
