Abstract: Earthworks are engineering works created through the processing of parts of the earth's surface involving quantities of soil or unformed rock. A common road design problem is the widening and repair of existing road surfaces. Widening the lanes on a bend can reduce the risk of head-on crashes by giving drivers more room to get around the bend without crossing into the opposing lane. Similarly, widening turn lanes can improve safety, especially for larger vehicles. Widening traffic lanes on straight sections of multilane roads can reduce sideswipe crashes. In this scenario we wish to fill in the road shoulder and possibly widen the road on uphill side. To minimize the cost we don't want to change the existing pavement.
